Is my data safe? Do you store anything on your servers?

Yes. Lumist is built entirely on a local-first architecture. Your data resides safely in your browser’s isolated IndexedDB sandbox. It never touches our servers. However, since cache-clearing can wipe local databases, we highly recommend downloading regular .json backups.

How do I transfer Lumist to a new computer?

Each Lumist app (Flow, Hue, and Type) has a Data Portability section at the bottom of its workspace. Download your .json backup files on your old computer, transfer them via email or USB, and click "Upload & Restore" on your new computer.

What happens if I forget to stop my timer?

Because Lumist Flow uses absolute UNIX timestamps, your timer will keep running accurately. However, you can easily fix mistakes: click the Edit (pencil) icon on your task card to open the Time Logs ledger. You can delete the runaway time log and manually add the correct hours back in.

Why does Lumist Flow have manual timezone settings?

Many modern, privacy-focused developers use browsers like LibreWolf or Mullvad that spoof your timezone to UTC to combat device tracking. Lumist includes a manual timezone selector on the reports dashboard to let you override browser spoofs, ensuring calendar calculations (like "This Week's Logged Hours") perfectly match your physical clock.

Can I export my data to spreadsheets?

Absolutely. Lumist provides an Export Spreadsheet (CSV) option in the Reports dashboard. It compiles your tasks, priority, status, and notes, and translates your logged seconds into easy decimal hours (e.g. 1.50 hours for 1h 30m) so you can directly run billing calculations in Excel or Google Sheets.

Are my uploaded images sent to a server?

No. When using Lumist Hue, image processing happens 100% locally in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images are never uploaded or stored anywhere.

Does Lumist Hue work with gradients?

Yes! By mathematically bucketing HSL values into 20-degree slices, Hue successfully merges scattered gradient pixels back into single, powerful primary colors without splintering them.

Can I test my extracted Hue colors on Lumist Type?

Yes! If you analyze a brand using Lumist Hue and save it to your local database, you can load it directly into Lumist Type's Live UI Mockup using the "Mockup Color Theme" dropdown.

Why do I need to grant permission to read local fonts?

Lumist Type uses the modern Local Font Access API to let you test typefaces installed directly on your computer (like premium Adobe or Monotype fonts). Browsers require explicit permission for this to prevent malicious websites from using your font library to fingerprint your device.
